Kawasaki Ninja 250R ready to launch in India


  • India's second largest two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj is ready for the new bike Kawasaki Ninja 250R launch in India in this May. Kawasaki Ninja 250R is the most popular bike from Kawasaki's product portfolio. The company's MD Rajeev Bajaj said that Kawasaki Ninja 250 will be launched in India in the month of May or June this year. He also added that the new bike Kawasaki Ninja 250 will be priced around Rs 2 lacs. Kawasaki Ninja 250R will be launched in India as a joint venture between Bajaj Auto and Kawasaki.

    Kawasaki Ninja 250R is famous for its splendid combination of engine power and high fuel efficiency with smooth handling and comfort. Kawasaki Ninja 250R will be the entry level sports bike it may also pass off for a good street bike as well. Bajaj will be importing Kawasaki Ninja 250 as CKD (completely knocked down) units from Thailand to save on custom duties and it will be assembled at company local manufacturing plant. Kawasaki Ninja 250R will be equipped with 249cc, parallel twin cylinder, DOHC engine that offers better mass centralization and smooth handling are the main highlights of this bike.

    The dual overhead camshafts of Kawasaki Ninja 250 ensures that the bike offers good low and mid range torque. The Kawasaki Ninja 250R is equipped with all those advanced features that are a prerequisite for a good biking experience. Bajaj Auto is hoping that Kawasaki Ninja 205 will offer good business as it will be the entry sports bike in India and its comparatively low price tag will surely attract the sports bike lovers who can not afford the available super bikes in India which are pricing above 10 lacs.

Kawasaki Ninja 250R features a 249cc four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, parallel twin engine with a 6 speed manual gearbox which produces 31bhp power at 10,500rpm. and 22Nm torque at 9,500rpm. Its 249cc power plant provides the great acceleration to this machine so that Ninza 250R can hit 0-60mph(96kmph) in 5.74 seconds and it can run a quarter mile in 14.5 seconds. While 30bhp may not seems too much, but it is enough to cross the mark of 170km/h at speedometer.

    Its 110/70mm(front)-130/70 mm(rear) wheels makes the handling capacity of this bike so qualitative. Its 37mm Telescopic front suspension and Bottom-Link Uni-Trak rear suspension reduces the jerks at the time of riding and improves the handling capacity. Its new Denso radiator provides better cooling with minimal space and weight.

But this bike will not be directly imported, its parts will be imported and then assembled in the Indian Bajaj Auto's plant. Bajaj along with Kawasaki will be marketing it in India and is soon expected to be seen in the market in Bajaj Pro biking showrooms. The low price tag with an exceptional personality might give this sport bike a good start.

  • Honda to launch new bike in 100cc segment


  • Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India’s (HMSI) planning to launch new bike in entry-level 100 cc bike segment that might be a trump card for Japan’s Honda Motor Co to capture more share of the Indian two-wheeler market. The new Honda bike is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000. Two days back Honda launched the upgraded version of its most popular 125cc bike CBF Stunner to make its presence stronger in the Indian two-wheeler market.

    Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) President and CEO Shinji Aoyama said, "We are working on to launch a completely new bike in 100cc segment by the end of this financial year. It will be priced little bit higher than other 100cc bikes in the market now, but it will not be higher priced than the 125cc bikes. The new 100cc bike might be priced at around Rs 40,000 - Rs 45,000."

    He added that the new 100cc bike would not 'cannibalise' Hero Honda's products.

    "We are not aiming to make big business there (in the 100cc segment) but we want to satisfy people who want Honda products at that price," Aoyama said.

    In India, the 100cc bike market is dominated by Hero Honda, which is a joint venture between Japanese auto major Honda and Munjals-promoted Hero Group. Few days back, HMSI announced that they will invest Rs 300 crore by the next three years to expand its manufacturing facilities, besides launching new models.

    On 26th May, HMSI launched the upgraded version of its 125cc stylish bike -- CBF Stunner, priced at Rs 64,630 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
